On December 11, a platoon from the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) of the French Foreign Legion arrived in the Central African Republic (CAR) to reinforce the French forces having already been placed there since December 5.
2e REI’s training course at Larzac
On December 6, the Elementary Specialization Training course (Formations de spécialité élémentaire, FSE) of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) of the Foreign Legion, taking place at Larzac (a large military camp in southern France), finished.
Legionnaires-sappers celebrated Sainte Barbe 2013
During the first week of December, the legionnaires – sapeurs (military engineers) from the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) and 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the French Foreign Legion, celebrated its patron, Sainte Barbe (Saint Barbara).
2e REG parading in Apt
Yesterday, the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) has published the images of its November’s military ceremony in the town of Apt, southeastern France. During the ceremony, two legionnaires received the decrees of naturalisation (gaining French nationality/citizenship) from the mayor of Apt. The regiment was also presenting itself to the public.

2e REI: Dissolution of the Serval 2 Brigade
Last week, on November 27, the Combined Arms Brigade Serval 2 (Brigade Interarmes Serval 2), having been serving during the Operation in Mali this year, was officially dissolved in the headquarters of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) in Nimes, southern France.
A legionnaire receives standing ovation in Canada
A legionnaire, Senior-Corporal from the MLE, received standing ovation during the Québec City International Festival of Military Bands (FIMMQ) in Canada, while playing Auld Lang Syne. Really amazing performance… And YES, even this fantastic musician has passed the hard four-months basic training of the Foreign Legion in Castel.
Vaillant 2013: Exercise of the 1er RE
Two hundred legionnaires from the 1st Foreign Regiment (1er RE) of the French Foreign Legion have passed their traditional November’s military exercise called Vaillant (Vailant). The training took place at villages of Correns and Le Val in southeastern France, between 19th and 21st of November 2013.
