Last week, on March 22, a military ceremony took part in the headquarters of the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) of the Foreign Legion, to salute the flag of the 5th Squadron, for the last time in its history. The sqadron has been disbanded since March 2014, due to the reorganization of the French Army of 2014-2019.
4e REI: History of the Regiment of Morocco
See the history and images of the 4th Foreign Infantry Regiment (4e REI), the last Foreign Legion regiment that served in Morocco. Constituted in late 1920 and nicknamed as the Regiment of Morocco, the 4e REI participated in the pacification of that country, as well as in the campaigns in Syria and Lebanon, in Madagascar, in Indochina, and eventually in the Algerian War. It was disbanded in 1964. The current training regiment of the Legion took over the title, history and traditions of the 4e REI.
2e REG: Oubangui exercise and “Remise de Képi blanc”
Between February 25 and 27, because of their departure to the Central African Republic (CAR) in mid-March, legionnaires from the 1st Company of the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the Foreign Legion participated in the Oubangui exercise, which took part in Sault, a small commune in the Vaucluse department of southeastern France.

Legionnaires in Norway
Since March 3, 2014, legionnaires of the Mountain equipment platoon (Section équipement montagne, SEM) from Support Company of the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the French Foreign Legion, have been stationed in northern Norway.
2e REI: New gas masks testing
Between 10 and 14 of February 2014, the legionnaires from the 1st and 5th Company of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) of the Foreign Legion were testing the new gas masks of the MISTRAL system, which completes the modern French infantry combat system FÉLIN, have been used in 2e REI since 2012.
