On October 7, 2017, 4th Foreign Regiment (4e RE), the training unit of the French Foreign Legion, organized the 40th half marathon at Castelnaudary, its garrison town in southern France.
Foreign Legion T-Shirts: 13e DBLE Insignia
Formed in February 1940 and then once again in July of the same year, the 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13e DBLE) remains the only demi-brigade within the current French Army. During WWII in the Middle East, Africa and Europe, the unit gained various awards and decorations. The 13e DBLE continued in fighting for France and in receiving decorations in Indochina and Algeria between 1946-62.

CERA: A little-known airborne unit of the Legion serving in Indochina

They were created to support our FOREIGNLEGION.INFO website, an online project launched five years ago, in September 2012. The website is dedicated to the Legion, to promote that unique military unit, and to share information about it; about its history, traditions, units, joining requirements etc.
2e REP: 50 years in Corsica and Saint Michael Day
Last weekend marks the culmination of the commemoration of the 50 years the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) has already spent in Corsica. The 2e REP also celebrated its regimental holiday, Saint Michael Day. French Minister of the Armed Forces participated in the celebrations and decorated the 2e REP’s flag.

Since September 11, 2017, legionnaires from the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment (3e REI), the Foreign Legion’s regiment based in French Guiana, have participated in rescue operations on the island of Saint Martin, in the Caribbean Sea, damaged by Hurricane Irma.
85th anniversary: The worst accident in the Foreign Legion’s history
In Algeria (North Africa), 85 years ago, the worst accident in the history of the French Foreign Legion occurred. On September 14, 1932, a troop train was heading for Morocco, carrying a Legion battalion ready for fighting. In the afternoon, the train had derailed and fell into a ravine. Tens of legionnaires were killed, two hundreds of legionnaires were wounded.
