13e DBLE: Exercise with Spanish Legion 2017
In March 2017, the 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13e DBLE) of the French Foreign Legion conducted an exercise with Spanish legionnaires (legionarios) from the X Bandera “Millán Astray”, Tercio 4 (10th Battalion, 4th Regiment), Spanish Legion at Camp Larzac, the home to the 13e DBLE in an inhospitable part of southern France.

2e REP: 50 years at Calvi, Corsica
The year of 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the installation of the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) at Calvi, Corsica. The regiment moved to Corsica from Bou Sfer, Algeria in 1967. On March 18, 2017, the celebrations of the anniversary started. They will continue until September.

Lt Colonel Eric Hildebert: 40 years in the Legion
In mid-March 2017, Lieutenant Colonel Eric Hildebert left the Foreign Legion, after his 40 years of service. An officer à titre étranger (a commissioned foreigner), he enlisted in the Legion as a young volunteer in 1977.

1er REG: Reconnaissance exercise
In late February and early March 2017, the Liaison & Direct Action Reconnaissance Platoon (Section de Liaison et de Reconnaissance Offensive, SLRO) from the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) conducted a military exercise simulating a reasearch mission to capture a leader of a terrorist group.

2e REP: Water Jumping Course 2017
In January 2017, legionnaires from the 3rd Company (specialized in amphibious warfare), 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP), the only airborne unit of the famous French Foreign Legion, took part in a water jumping & landing basic course. See a nice video made by the 2e REP.
