This demanding process identifies those capable of operating particularly in tropical jungle terrain, where the 3e REI is primarily deployed.

2e REI: Combat Support Company training

13e DBLE: First exercise with helicopters
In March 2019, the 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13e DBLE) conducted an exercise with helicopters at Larzac. It was the very first such exercise taking place at their military camp located in southern France.
2e REI: A legionnaire died in Iraq
Yesterday, March 21, 2018, a legionnaire of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) died in Iraq. Since February 2018, with his platoon, he was involved in Operation Chammal to train Iraqi Special Operations Forces (ISOF). In August 2018, he would have completed his fifth year in the Legion.
13e DBLE: First 250 Heckler & Koch rifles
On June 9, 2017, the 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13e DBLE) of the French Foreign Legion received its first 250 HK416F rifles. As stated earlier, the 13e DBLE has been the first French Army regiment equipped with the German Heckler & Koch rifle, which has to replace the French FAMAS.
