1er REC: 2nd Squadron Joins Jaguar Ranks

In April 2025, the 2nd Squadron of the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) successfully finalized its training on the Jaguar armored vehicle, becoming the last armored unit in the regiment to adopt it. This milestone completes the 1er REC’s full transition to the modern Jaguar fleet.

1er REC: First French Army operational unit to receive EBRC Jaguar vehicles

On 23 August 2022, the Foreign Legion’s 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) received officially their first EBRC Jaguar armored vehicles of the new generation. The regiment became the very first operational unit of the French Army to get them.

2e REI: SCAR-H Precision rifle

In early January 2022, 33 new high-precision rifles SCAR-H PR (20″ version) were delivered to the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) in Nimes. They are intended to replace the outdated FR-F2 sniper rifle. The delivery is part of the planned 2019-2025 modernization of the French Army.

13e DBLE: First VBMR Griffons arrived

Between March 10 and 12, 2021, the 13th Foreign Legion Half Brigade (13e DBLE) was receiving its first Multi-Role Armored Vehicles (VBMR), nicknamed Griffon. Part of the 2019-2025 modernization of the French Army, these armored personnel carriers are designed to replace the outdated Armored Frontline Vehicles (VAB), in service since 1976.

VBCI: Armored Infantry Fighting Vehicle

The Foreign Legion published another presentation of the VBCI, an armored infantry fighting vehicle, which would replace the old-fashioned VAB, used since the early 1980’s. The shorter clip shows the specifications of the new French armored vehicle designed and equipped to transport a combat infantry squad.

13e DBLE: First 250 Heckler & Koch rifles

On June 9, 2017, the 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13e DBLE) of the French Foreign Legion received its first 250 HK416F rifles. As stated earlier, the 13e DBLE has been the first French Army regiment equipped with the German Heckler & Koch rifle, which has to replace the French FAMAS.

13e DBLE: First French Army regiment to receive Heckler & Koch rifle

2e REI received its new VBCI armored vehicles

On January 31, 2015, the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) of the French Foreign Legion received its first VBCI armored personnel carriers, replacing the previous armored vehicles of the regiment – VAB, used in 2e REI since 1982.
