In April 2025, the 2nd Squadron of the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) successfully finalized its training on the Jaguar armored vehicle, becoming the last armored unit in the regiment to adopt it. This milestone completes the 1er REC’s full transition to the modern Jaguar fleet.
Replacing the old AMX 10 RCR vehicles, the EBRC Jaguar significantly enhance mobility, protection, and combat capabilities, placing the 1er REC among France’s elite armored units.
Following six weeks of intensive instruction, legionnaires of the 2nd Squadron demonstrated their proficiency in a realistic operational environment, further proving their capabilities during live-fire exercises with the new vehicles.
Now the 1er REC comprises three armored squadrons (1st, 2nd, 3rd) equipped with the Jaguar and two light reconnaissance squadrons (4th, 5th).
It is worth noting that, within the regiment, the Jaguar also replaces the older ERC 90 Sagaie, decommissioned in 2018.
