2e REI: SCAR-H Precision rifle

In early January 2022, 33 new high-precision rifles SCAR-H PR (20″ version) were delivered to the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) in Nimes. They are intended to replace the outdated FR-F2 sniper rifle. The delivery is part of the planned 2019-2025 modernization of the French Army.

SCAR-H PR is a gas-operated, highly accurate semi-auto or selective fire precision rifle for designated marksmen or sniper teams, developed by Belgian manufacturer FN Herstal (FN) in the 2000s. The 2e REI obtained them with a Schmidt & Bender telescopic sight, produced in Germany.

Since 2020, the 2e REI marksmen have also used the HK 417 A2 rifle.
