As a long-existed tradition, all units of the French Foreign Legion organize Christmas challenges before Christmas Eve, the second most important holiday within the Legion. The challenges help to keep unit cohesion, to compare the force of their companies and to provide a little bit of fun for their hard-working men. 1er REG: 2018 Saint Barbara Day
On November 30, 2018 in Laudun (southern France), the military engineers of the French Foreign Legion’s 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) organized an annual ceremony to celebrate their patron, Saint Barbara (Sainte-Barbe in French).
1er REG: 2018 Regimental March
In late September 2018, officers and legionnaires of the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG), an engineering unit of the French Foreign Legion, carried out a regimental march in the Gard region of southern France.
1er REG: Training for French Guiana 2018
Before being deployed to French Guiana (South America), the legionnaires of the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) took part in several military exercises outside France. They were trained for being fully operationally capable to carry out well their mission in Guiana.
2e REI + 1er REG: Legionnaires finished their mission in Estonia
After four months spent in Estonia, legionnaires left this Baltic state and returned to France. The detachments from the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) and 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) were sent to Estonia to participate in Mission Lynx.

Every year in early December, both engineers regiments of the French Foreign Legion commemorate the patron of military engineers, Saint Barbara (Sainte Barbe in French) during their regimental holiday. They commemorated its patron also in December 2017.

Foreign Legion: Bold Alligator 2017
Legionnaires from three Foreign Legion regiments are participating in Bold Alligator, a joint multinational warfare exercise organized by the United States. About 14 foreign nations’ forces joined the exercise in North Carolina this year. The exercise starts today, October 18.
