1er REG: 2018 Saint Barbara Day

On November 30, 2018 in Laudun (southern France), the military engineers of the French Foreign Legion’s 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) organized an annual ceremony to celebrate their patron, Saint Barbara (Sainte-Barbe in French).

The same as the last year, the ceremony occurred at Quartier Général Rollet, the HQ of the regiment, during a rainy day. General Mistral, the new head of the Foreign Legion attended the event and made a speech to his legionnaires. Also several civil authorities were present, including the Secretary General of the SNCF (French National Railway Company), Stéphane Volant. He decorated the regiment’s reservists.

Once the ceremony had been finished, the 1er REG legionnaires passed a collective lunch.

As always in the Legion, such holiday is accompanied by a collective sports activity. So, a regimental cross-country run took place, 9 miles (14 km) long.
