On April 30, 2019, the French Foreign Legion commemorated the 156th anniversary of the Battle of Camerone, the legendary and most important event in its history. Thousands of spectators were watching the annual commemoration of the Battle of Camerone at Quartier Vienot, the home to the 1er RE and COMLE situated in Aubagne, close to Marseille, southern France.
Camerone 2019: La Ciotat – 1er REC
2019 Camerone Day in La Ciotat, a town with an artificial sand beach. La Ciotat is situated south-east of Camp Carpiagne, the home to the cavalrymen from 1er REC, who commemorated for the very first time their Camerone there.

2019 Camerone Day at Fort de Nogent of Paris, the well-known recruiting point for many candidates and a home to the GRLE. A platoon of the 2e REP participated in the parade.

Finally, a video showing the 156th commemoration of the famous battle straight at Camarón, Mexico. A platoon of the 3e REI participated in the parade. A Spanish-speaking legionnaire gave a speech (the official narration of the Battle of Camerone) in Spanish.
