Foreign Legion: 2018 Camerone Day

This Monday, April 30, 2018, the French Foreign Legion commemorated the 155th anniversary of the famous Battle of Camerone. This day is the most important day of the year for all current or former legionnaires of the Legion. The well-known battle is seen as a sample illustration of bravery and determination of fighting to the finish. Because of that, the event became the sacred symbol of the Foreign Legion to be commemorated annually.

Camerone 2018: Aubagne – 1er RE

Thousands of spectators attended the annual commemoration of the Battle of Camerone at Quartier Vienot, the HQ of the Foreign Legion located in Aubagne, close to Marseille, southern France. Aubagne is the garrison for the 1er RE and COMLE.

Camerone 2018: Calvi – 2e REP

April 30, 2018, the commemorations of the battle of Camerone took place also at Camp Raffalli, the base of the prestigious 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP), situated near Calvi, Corsica. Hundreds of visitors arrived to participate in 2018 Camerone Day, alongside para-legionnaires.
