An interesting Brazilian documentary on the French Foreign Legion, showing, besides other things, the very rare images of advanced training courses of this legendary unit. It was released 36 years ago, in January 1978 by Globo, the second-largest commercial TV network in the world.
Yesterday, on January 26, 2014, the training exercise called Blue legionnaire, in which the Legion and British paratroopers were participating in, was officially finished. It took two weeks, since January 12. Another two-weeks long exercise between the same units, called Eagle Eyes, will be started in Corsica next week, on February 03.
“You are here to start the most difficult French military course for ordinary soldiers. It could be said, you are fu.ked.” The newest French documentary, being released a week ago, shows 24 legionnaires ready to start the Jungle Instructor’s Helper Course (Stage Aide-moniteur fôret, AMF) to obtain that very prestigious certificate. The course is managed by the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment (3e REI) and lasts 8 weeks, including 7 weeks spent in the Amazon jungle of French Guiana…
