It participated in the First Indochina War, Algerian War, Battle of Kolwezi and other military operations.
This day marks the 32nd anniversary of the Mont Garbi accident. The 3rd February 1982 has been the most tragic day for the French Foreign Legion since the Battle of Dien Bien Phu of 1954. The accident happened in Djibouti, Africa; 29 members of the Legion, including a whole platoon of the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP), were killed.
