Another year is gone, and a new year is upon us. In fact, the upcoming year marks the already tenth season of Foreign Legion Info, a personal online project promoting the famous French Foreign Legion in the English-speaking world. This project started in late 2012 and I am glad to see that you, the readers, are still enjoying it. Thank you.

1er REG: Exercise Scorpion XI
In early December 2021, legionnaires from the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG), one of the two engineer regiments of the French Foreign Legion, participated in Exercise Scorpion XI. During this exercise, the 1er REG men were carrying out a river crossing in support of motorized infantry elements.
1er REC: Commando Training Center now open to other military units
The Commando Training Center of the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) was inaugurated this May. Since early December 2021, the center has helped to strengthen operational readiness of troops from other operational units of the Legion.

13e DBLE: Exercise Polaris 21
In late November and early December 2021, a large French-led joint maritime exercise Polaris 21 took place in the Mediterranean Sea. This multi-national, combined and inter-theatre exercise involved around 6,000 French troops from the French Army, Navy and Air Force, including legionnaires from the 13th Foreign Legion Half Brigade (13e DBLE), the only infantry elements taking part in the exercise.
65 years ago: Two little-known motorized groups of the Foreign Legion were disbanded
In North Africa in late 1956, two little-known motorized groups of the Foreign Legion were disbanded, and their five companies helped to double the ranks of the two freshly established “motorized regiments”, first among Foreign Legion units.
