2e REG: Support Company at La Courtine

In October 2026, the Support Company of the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) completed two weeks of intensive training at Camp La Courtine, a large French Army training area in the Creuse department of central France.

The Support Company (Compagnie d’appui, CA) of the 2e REG, the Foreign Legion’s mountain warfare regiment, brings together several specialized engineering capabilities. Its platoons are responsible for terrain preparation and obstacle crossing, supporting mountain operations, establishing infrastructure for deployed forces, conducting engineer reconnaissance and specialized intervention tasks, and carrying out explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and mine-clearance operations.

During the training period, the company’s officers, NCOs, and legionnaires improved their operational readiness and sharpened the reflexes they rely on in the field through day and night live-fire exercises, combat training in open terrain, and urban warfare exercises.
