2e REG: Mountain Commandos in Greenland
In early September 2018, mountain commandos from the French Foreign Legion’s 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) took part in an artic military exercise in Greenland, close to the North Pole.
Bastille Day Military Parade 2018
This Saturday, the French commemorated their National Day of the 14th July, called Bastille Day in the English-speaking world. As always since 1880, a large military parade in Paris occurred. Traditionally, the Bastille Day military parade took place on the Champs-Elysées, a well-known avenue in the 8th arrondissement. The Foreign Legion participated.
Legion: Training for 2018 Bastille Day Parade
As every year these days, members of the French Foreign Legion are training dutifully for the Bastille Day Military Parade, which will take place in Paris this Saturday, on July 14, 2018. Apart from Foreign Legion Pioneers and the Music Band, legionnaires of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) and the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) will also participate in the parade.
1er REG + 2e REG: Sainte Barbe 2017
Every year in early December, both engineers regiments of the French Foreign Legion commemorate the patron of military engineers, Saint Barbara (Sainte Barbe in French) during their regimental holiday. They commemorated its patron also in December 2017.
2e REG: Change of Command 2017
In early September 2017, the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) held a traditional change of command ceremony, at Quartier Maréchal Koenig, its headquarters located near Saint Christol, southeastern France.

On Tuesday, January 26, 2016, the Foreign Legion’s 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) held a ceremony to pay tribute to the six legionnaires killed in an avalanche in the French Alps. The ceremony took place at Quartier Maréchal Koenig, 2e REG’s headquarters in Saint-Christol, in southeastern France.
2e REG: Sixth legionnaire dies after avalanche in the Alps
On Monday, January 25, 2016, the sixth legionnaire who had been caught in the avalanche in the French Alps died from his injuries. He was one of the 14 members of the Foreign Legion’s 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) affected by the avalanche during basic mountain warfare training.

2e REG: Five legionnaires killed in the Alps
On Monday, January 18, 2016, 14 legionnaires from the Foreign Legion’s 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) were caught in an avalanche while crossing the Petit Argentier saddle in the French Alps. They were taking part in basic mountain warfare training. Five legionnaires were killed. Nine were injured, including two seriously.
Camerone Day 2015
On 30 April 2015, the French Foreign Legion commemorated the 152nd anniversary of the Battle of Camerone. This day is known as Camerone Day (Camerone), the most important day for the Legion and its legionnaires. See the videos from 1er RE, 2e REI and 2e REG.
