A Caporal-chef (Senior corporal) from the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the Foreign Legion was killed during live firing exercise at Camp des Guarrigues, a military camp located near Nimes (southern France), on March 23. The exercise was conducted to train legionnaires before joining Operation Berkhane in Mali in May 2015.
2e REG: Sainte Barbe 2014
As stated before, the French Foreign Legion’s engineering units celebrated Sainte Barbe (Saint Barbara), the patron of military engineers, on 3 and 5 December 2014. While her feast day is on December 4, the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) conducted a parade in honor of Sainte Barbe on December 3.

Young legionnaires who just joined the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the French Foreign Legion after finishing their 4-month-long basic training, are obliged to pass the Basic Specialty Training (Formation de Spécialité Initiale, FSI) conducted by their new regiment, to get initial combat engineering skills.

2e REG in Mali in April 2014
As noted, a team of the Surveillance & Direct Action Platoon (Section de renseignement et d’intervention offensive, SRIO) of the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the Foreign Legion is participating, together with other regiment’s and Legion’s units, in Operation Serval in Mali right now. See some nice images from an operation, in which the legionnaires-sappers of SRIO secured a road clearing for a military convoy of the French regular army forces.

During February and March of 2014, young legionnaires arriving to the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG), a mountain warfare regiment of the Foreign Legion, were participating in the course of basic mountain military skills to obtain the Military Skier Certificate (Brevet de Skieur Militaire, BSM) and its badge.

2e REG: Oubangui exercise and “Remise de Képi blanc”
Between February 25 and 27, because of their departure to the Central African Republic (CAR) in mid-March, legionnaires from the 1st Company of the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the Foreign Legion participated in the Oubangui exercise, which took part in Sault, a small commune in the Vaucluse department of southeastern France.

2e REG parading in Apt
Yesterday, the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) has published the images of its November’s military ceremony in the town of Apt, southeastern France. During the ceremony, two legionnaires received the decrees of naturalisation (gaining French nationality/citizenship) from the mayor of Apt. The regiment was also presenting itself to the public.
