4e RE: Remise de Képis blancs – Mont-Saint-Michel 2015

Today, on 3 November 2015, French Foreign Legion volunteers from the 2nd Engaged Volunteers Company (2CEV), 4th Foreign Regiment (4e RE) having finished first four weeks of their 4-month-long basic training and were ready to obtain their Képi blanc (White kepi) and become the legionnaires. See some images from the Remise de Képi blanc (Obtaining the White kepi) ceremony at Mont-Saint-Michel (Saint Michael’s Mount), a well known island commune in Normandy, France.

2e REP: Legionnaire becomes a European kickboxing champion

On 3 October 2015, sergeant Maksim Boukalov, a legionnaire of Russian origin serving as a non-commissioned officer (NCO) within the French Foreign Legion’s 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) on the island of Corsica, won the European Pro ISKA kickboxing light middleweight belt, when he beat Laurent Debono, the double European champion in full contact kickboxing.

On 13 October 2015, volunteers from the 3rd Engaged Volunteer Company (3e CEV), 4th Foreign Regiment (4e RE) of the French Foreign Legion, having finished first four weeks of 4-month-long basic training, obtained their Képi blanc and became officially the legionnaires during the Remise de Képi blanc (Obtaining the White kepi) ceremony in Bordeaux, a port city in southwestern France.

3e REI: Independence Day Parade in Brazil 2015

On 7 September 2015, a detachment of the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment (3e REI) participated in Brazil’s Independence Day Military Parade, which took place in the city of Macapá. The 3e REI is based in French Guiana, a country bordering with Brazil.

Museum: Foreign Legion Badges Exhibition

The Foreign Legion Museum, placed in Aubagne within Legion’s HQ of 1st Foreign Regiment (1er RE), organized a temporary exhibition dedicated to the badges/insignias of the French Foreign Legion from all decades. The exbition is opened to the public since September 18 and continues on view through 20 March 2016.

On September 02, the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) commemorated the 112th anniversary of the Battle of El Moungar in its garrison of Nimes. The battle is considered as the regiment’s Camerone, in which a few legionnaires were attacked by enemy with numerical superiority.
