On September 7, 2016, legionnaires from the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment (3e REI) participated in Brazil’s Independence Day Military Parade, which took place in the city of Macapá. Stationed in French Guiana, a country bordering with Brazil, the 3e REI and the Brazilian Army operate often together.

Between September 7-9, 2016, a group of legionnaires from the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) participated in TUI SANTIAGO, a 120-kilometer-long international military competition organized in Spain. They finished the competition as the best foreign team.

Foreign Legion T-Shirts: 1er REC Insignia
80 years ago, in August 1936, the regimental insignia was distributed to legionnaires of the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) of the French Foreign Legion. It remains the oldest distinctive unit insignia used within the Legion. The 1er REC also remains the only cavalry unit of the current Foreign Legion.

Foreign Legion T-Shirts: 2e REP Insignia
The 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) of the French Foreign Legion remains its only airborne unit and, most probably, the best-known regiment of the Legion. During its campaigns in Asia, Africa or Europe, the famous 2e REP gained 10 unit citations, mentioned in the order of the Army. Because of this, the 2e REP legionnaires are allowed to bear two Fourrageres, in colors of the Legion of Honor and the Military Valor.

On August 24, 2016, French Army General Bertrand H. de La Chesnais visited French soldiers, including legionnaires, at Nice, France. Legionnaires from 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) and 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) are patrolling the city as part of Operation Sentinelle. Foreign Legion T-Shirts: 2e REI Insignia
In April 2016, the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) of the French Foreign Legion celebrated the 175th Anniversary. It has been the longest-serving regiment of the Legion. During its campaigns in Africa, Europe, Mexico, French Indochina or the Middle East, the famous 2e REI gained 6 unit citations, mentioned in the order of the Army. Its battalions and companies have gained another 22 unit citations since 1841.
