A very nice video from French Guiana. As noted in FFL December 2014 Operations, the Reconnaissance and Support Company (CEA) of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) was sent to serve in French Guiana for four months (09/14 – 01/15), on the so called Short Period Mission (Mission de Courte Durée, MCD).
2e REI: First exercise with VBCI
As stated, the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) of the French Foreign Legion received its first VBCI armored vehicles, on January 31, 2015. Five days later, the legionnaires of 2e REI conducted an exercise with their new equipment.

On January 31, 2015, the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) of the French Foreign Legion received its first VBCI armored personnel carriers, replacing the previous armored vehicles of the regiment – VAB, used in 2e REI since 1982.
Video: Exercise Iberian Star with the Spanish Legion
As previously mentioned, Exrcise Iberian Star 2014 took part in Spain in November 2014. Spanish legionnaires from Spanish Legion’s VIII Bandera (8th Battalion) and French legionnaires from the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) were involved in this exercise, together with Welsh and Irish soldiers from the British Army. IBERIAN STAR 2014: French and Spanish legionnaires trained together
In the second half of last month, November 2014, Exercise IBERIAN STAR 2014 took place on the Chinchilla Training Area in the province of Albacete, southern Spain. Legionnaires of the French Foreign Legion and the Spanish Legion (former Spanish Foreign Legion), together with British soldiers were involved in the exercise.

Central African Republic: 2e REP, 2e REI

2e REI: Infernal Run
Last month, in June 2014, the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) of the French Foreign Legion organized the first year of a 9 km (6 miles) long run with several obstacles, the Infernal Run. More than 600 legionnaires, mainly from 2e REI, participated in. However, as being said, Infernal Run is open to legionnaires from all regiments across the Legion. The run continues in the regiment’s traditional Cross Country run, taking place on El Mungar Day (the 2e REI’s legendary battle anniversary) of September 2.
2e REI: Tapanar II left the regiment
On May 16, Caporal-chef Tapanar II left the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI), after more than 28 years of service in the French Foreign Legion. Nevertheless, it must be said that the Caporal-chef Tapanar II is a mule in fact and it was a mascot of 2e REI. A ceremony to say goodbye to Tapanar II took place in 2e REI’s barracks.
13e DBLE: How to avoid the danger of IED
Yesterday, on May 28, the Foreign Legion launched a video showing an instruction to avoid the danger of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) during military operations. The instruction took place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a garrison of the 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13e DBLE), in March 2014.
