2e REI: Amphibious landing exercise

Legionnaires from the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) of Nimes conducted an amphibious landing exercise at Port Pothuau of Hyères, the oldest resort on the French Riviera in southeastern France.

The 2e REI legionnaires from the Recce & Support Company (CEA) boarded with their vehicles on projection and command ship (BPC) Mistral (an amphibious assault ship) in Toulon on April 7. Two days later, at Port Pothuau, the CEA legionnaires started the amphibious landing exercise. The purpose of the exercise was to carry out an amphibious assault with vehicles and seize control of the beach.
