2e REI: 5th Company recreated

Yesterday, on June 15, a ceremony conducted by the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) took place in Nimes (southern France) in honor to the re-establishment of the 5th Company.

The 5th Company, a combat company of 2e REI, was established in 2000 and disbanded in 2014 due to the savings and reorganization of the French Army 2014-2019. A year later, the company is recreated and planned to be composed of 150 legionnaires in summer 2016.

The ceremony passed in the 18th-century Jardins de la Fontaine (Gardens of the Fountain), a large public parc of Nimes, an old Roman town where the regiment is based.
