1er REG: 3rd Company in Mayotte in 2024 | French Foreign Legion Information

Currently, in November 2024, legionnaires of the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) are deployed to Mayotte in the Indian Ocean. See some images.

In Mayotte, combat engineers of the 3rd Company 1er REG are part of the 5th Foreign Regiment (5e RE), a recently recreated unit. They are deployed to this French-controlled island for several months. During their deployment, they carry out – among other things – infrastructure and development work, renovation of buildings, and improvement of firing ranges.

At the same time, 1er REG men also serve in New Caledonia (Pacific Ocean) and Djibouti (Horn of Africa).
