Yesterday, June 16, the French public TV channel France 2 released a new interesting documentary about the recruiting and selection process of the French Foreign Legion, entitled Creation of a legionnaire (Fabrique d’un légionnaire). For the English-speaking world, this documentary would be more interesting thanks to an American volunteer being a main protagonist of the film.

Between February 9 and March 10, the Foreign Legion Museum in Aubagne (southern France) organizes a temporary exposition called “Legionnaires”. The exposition will show photos of Caroline Thirion, a famous Belgian photographer, dedicated to the legionnaires of the French Foreign Legion.
On November 16, 2018, the 4th Foreign Regiment (4e RE) celebrated the 98th anniversary of the creation of the regiment and also 42 years of its implantation at Castelnaudary, southern France.
Last weekend, a platoon of the French Foreign Legion’s enlisted volunteers had finished their four-week initial training at an isolated farm in southern France. Led by a Staff Sergeant (a long-serving legionnaire), the platoon subsequently did a 40 mile-long march (60 km), known as the Marche de Kepi Blanc (White Kepi March) to have the right to make a military oath, obtain the sacred White Kepi and become the Legionnaire.

On October 6, 2018, the 41st Foreign Legion Half Marathon took place in Castelnaudary, southern France. The event has been organized by the 4th Foreign Regiment (4e RE), the training regiment of the Foreign Legion, in their garrison town since 1977.
On July 24, 2018, a traditional ceremony of the French Foreign Legion occurred at Sainte-Livrade-sur-Lot, a small town in southwestern France. That day, a platoon of volunteers from the 4th Foreign Regiment (4e RE) gained their Képi blanc (White kepi) and became legionnaires.

On March 26, 2018, during a traditional ceremony, French Foreign Legion volunteers from the 2nd Enlisted Volunteers Company (2CEV), 4th Foreign Regiment (4e RE) gained the Képi blanc (White kepi) and became legionnaires.
