1er REG: 2nd Company at Mont Ventoux | French Foreign Legion Information

The 2nd Company of the French Foreign Legion’s 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) made a joint trip to reach the summit of Mont Ventoux, the highest mountain in the Provence region of Southern France. See images.

Nicknamed the “Beast of Provence”, Mont Ventoux is well-known thanks to the Tour de France cycling race, offering the most grueling climbs. It makes a magnet for cyclists around the world.

After reaching the legendary summit, the 2nd Company’s three combat platoons were taken over by their new leaders, during a decent ceremony. Each of the new leaders received a platoon fanion from their captain.
