Foreign Legion: 2026 Bastille Day | French Foreign Legion Information

July 14 marks France’s national holiday, Bastille Day. Beyond the main military parade in Paris, where the French Foreign Legion was represented once again this year, Legion units also take part in local celebrations held across the country and in France’s overseas territories.

On July 14, 2026, Foreign Legion soldiers joined national holiday events in several French regions. Individual regiments participated in commemorative ceremonies near their home military bases, alongside local civilian and military authorities. In a few cases, Legion personnel also attended celebrations outside their usual garrisons, including men of the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG), deployed to Martinique in the eastern Caribbean.

These regional ceremonies are a regular part of the Legion’s public activities, reflecting the ties between the communities and hosted Legion units.

The 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI), based in Nîmes, took part in Bastille Day celebrations in its garrison town.

The 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP), based at Calvi in Corsica, took part at the Bastille Day Military Parade in this town.

The 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC), based at Camp Carpiagne, participated in Bastille Day celebrations on July 14 in Marseille.

The 4th Foreign Regiment (4e RE) participated in Bastille Day celebrations in Castelnaudary, the regiment’s garrison town.

2026 Bastille Day: 3e REI in French Guiana

The 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment (3e REI), based in Kourou, French Guiana, took part in Bastille Day celebrations in the same town and at Camopi, an isolated commune on the border with Brazil.
