Each year, the Letestu Challenge is organized by the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI). Watch a short video of this year’s edition, which took place at the end of February.
The Letestu Challenge consists of a forced march in full combat gear (at running pace, combined with walking) that is 19 miles (30 km) long. Tests of shooting in a state of fatigue and throwing grenades await the legionnaires halfway through.
This year the challenge took place at Camp La Courtine, a vast military training area in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of central France. The 2e REI is currently deployed there for several weeks.
