2e REI: 2024 Infernal Run | French Foreign Legion Information

On May 25, 2024, another edition of the Infernal Run took place near Nimes, Southern France. As usual, the event was organized by the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI). Legionnaires and civilians participated.

The “hellish” race is run at Camp Garrigues, the regiment’s military training area near their garrison town of Nimes. It is about 8 miles (12.5 km) long and consists of 20 natural or artificial obstacles (water pit, sandbag carrying, zip line, crossing mobile containers, trenches, beams and tire mountains, paintball shooting…). This year, it involved about 500 participants.

The Infernal Run was first organized in 2014. Back then, it was strictly a military event for the 2e REI men. However, the last editions were open for people outside the Legion, too.
