1er REC: 2024 Ceremony in Orange

Legionnaires of the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) returned to the town of Orange in Southeastern France to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their departure in 2014. They left their former garrison town after 47 years.

The ceremony took place in the Roman theatre of Orange on September 26, 2024. A detachment of about 350 legionnaires under their Colonel Dias participated, as well as the Foreign Legion Music band and 1er REC veterans.

In late 1967, the regiment was stationed in Orange after having left Algeria (North Africa).
