See a nice video showing the change of command ceremony within the 1st Squadron, 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) that occurred recently at Camp Carpiagne, home to the regiment in Southern France.
After two prescribed years at the head of the 1st Squadron, Captain Maxime (a first name, the 1er REC still uses the anonymity rule for its officers) left the unit he was deployed with to Estonia in Northern Europe earlier this year. Now he is going to be promoted to major. The officer was succeeded by Captain Arthur.
The 1st Squadron is equipped with modern Jaguar vehicles. Part of the unit was also deployed to Ivory Coast in West Africa this year. In addition to ordinary military tasks, they commemorated the Bastille Day there, together with their comrades from the HQ Squadron (learn more: 1er REC: 2024 Bastille Day in Ivory Coast and Bosnia and Herzegovina).
For those who are interested, the song in the video is Honneur, Fidélité.
