In French Guiana, legionnaires from the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment (3e REI) of the French Foreign Legion protects the Guiana Space Center (Centre spatial guyanais, CSG) based at Kourou, under the terms of Operation Titan. See the fresh videos launched by the French Army.
The operation has been conducted since 2008. The 3e REI legionnaires, together with French Gendarmerie and French Air Force, ensure the security around the CSG base. The European Space Agency (ESA), the French Space Studies National Center (CNES) and the Arianespace commercial company conduct launches from there.
