1er REC: Legion’s Cavalry in Mali 2015 | French Foreign Legion Information

A few images of cavalry legionnaires during an operation in Mali, June 2015. The legionnaires of the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) are currently a part of GTD (Desert Tactic Group) MISTRAL in this African country, while serving in Operation Berkhane.

In the videos, we can see 1er REC legionnaires equipped with their VBL vehicles and VAB carriers during an operation around the town of Gao, their operational base in Mali.

The GTD MISTRAL which the legionnaires of 1er REC are part of is also composed of French officers and soldiers from 21e RIMa (Infantry Marines) and 3e RAMa (Artillery Marines).
