While their units are currently deployed to Africa’s Sahel, Ivory Coast or Djibouti, the men of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) and 13th Foreign Legion Half Brigade (13e DBLE), the largest regiments within the French Foreign Legion, participated in military parades in France on the French national holiday.
On 14 July 2022, a military parade took place in Nimes, Southern France, the garrison town of the 2e REI. Traditionally, the parade was held in downtown, near the Arena of Nimes. Built about 2,000 years ago, it’s one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world.
The same day, a military parade took place in Rodez, Southern France, the prefecture of the department of Aveyron where a large military camp of the 13e DBLE is located. Thus, a detachment of the Half-Brigade participated in the parade.
