In February 2019, legionnaires from the 3rd Company, 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the French Foreign Legion spent several weeks in the Alpes of the Savoie department to train mountain warfare.
Close to Valloire, at 2,600 m (8,500 ft) altitude, the 2nd Platoon, 3rd Combat Company, 2e REG equipped with HK 416 F rifles carried out several tasks and courses to be able to operate in mountain terrain under extreme climatic conditions.
