Last month, between October 8-9, 2016, the Foreign Legion Detachment in Mayotte (DLEM) opened its doors to the public to celebrate 40 years of its existance in Mayotte.
Over 8,000 visitors came into Quartier Cabaribère of Dzaoudzi, a city on the island of Mayotte (Indian Ocean), to participate in the event.
The DLEM was created in April 1976, after the Comoros gained its independence and the DLEC (Detachment in Comoros, created in 1973) had to leave the Islands.
