Legionnaires from the 3rd Company of the Foreign Legion’s 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) on their mission in the Central African Republic (CAR). They are participating in Operation Sangaris there.
The legionnaires from 2e REI, the unit based in Nimes, southern France, have been stationed in CAR since early July of this year. They are part of the Magneta Tactical Combined Arms Task Force (GTIA Magneta), the force established to conduct important tasks of Operation Sangaris. GTIA Magneta is commanded right now by colonel Valéry Putz, the regiment commander of 2e REI.
