1er REC: A concert to say goodbye to Orange

On June 3, 2014, the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) of the Foreign Legion organized a concert in Orange, to say goodbye to that southern France’s old town. The regiment will depart from Orange next month, on July 9. It will be placed in the Carpiagne military camp near Marseille, on July 11. The 1er REC has been based in Orange since 1967.

During the concert, the legionnaires of 1er REC were singing the regiment’s and Legion’s songs, accompanied by the Foreign Legion’ Music band. Nathalie Lhermitte, a French singer, also participated in the event, singing the songs of Édith Piaf, one of France’s greatest international stars, well-known for her song “Non, je ne regrette rien” and connected to the Legion by the song My legionnaire (“Mon légionnaire”).

The concert took place in the Roman theatre (Théâtre antique) of Orange.
