A list of units of the French Foreign Legion and their operations in January 2013. The Foreign Legion has always some of its units deployed outside of France. They are placed mainly in Africa. As they have always been placed there, during the history of the Legion.

JORDAN:

– 1st Foreign Regiment (1er RE) – health support group
– 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13e DBLE) – logistical support group
– 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) – logistical support group

 
MALI:

– 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) – 3rd Company (3e Escadron)

– 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) – 2nd company

 
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES:

– 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13e DBLE)
– 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) – 4th Company
– 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) – 3rd Company

 
DJIBOUTI:

– 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) – 1 platoon + 3 groups

 
GABON:

– 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) – 1 platoon (peloton) of the 2nd Company (2e Escadron)
– 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) – 3rd Company
– 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) – 1 platoon
– 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) – 5th Company

 
SENEGAL:

– 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) – 1 platoon + Operational detachment of training

 
FRENCH GUIANA:

– 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) – 3rd Company
