From May 4 to 20, 2026, the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI), stationed in Nîmes in southern France, conducted three weeks of intensive field training at Camp des Garrigues, a large military training area located near the regiment’s garrison town.
The exercise brought together legionnaires of the 2e REI alongside Belgian and Polish forces, with a focus on tactics, technical skills, battlefield innovation, and interoperability between the participating units. A high level of operational standards was maintained throughout the camp, which is managed by the 2e REI.
The training period concluded with a regimental rally — a demanding multi-event military competition between the regiment’s companies — which was won by the 3rd Company.
