In early April 2026, the 2nd Company of the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the French Foreign Legion completed its training at Camp La Courtine in central France. This phase marked the culmination of several weeks of intensive, targeted preparation before an upcoming overseas deployment.
The training focused on three main areas: reinforcing core soldiering skills, improving marksmanship and procedural discipline, and adapting to evolving threats on the modern battlefield. Officers and legionnaires refined their abilities in close-quarters combat, combat lifesaving, and land navigation, while also enhancing their accuracy and responsiveness during live-fire exercises.
With this final phase complete, the 2nd Company is now considered fully prepared for deployment to Martinique, a French overseas territory in the Caribbean.
2e REG units regularly deploy to Martinique on four-month rotations, with the most recent mission carried out by the 3rd Company between October 2025 and January 2026.
