In March 2018, legionnaires of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) deployed to Martinique, an overseas region of France in the eastern Caribbean Sea.
VBCI: Armored Infantry Fighting Vehicle
The Foreign Legion published another presentation of the VBCI, an armored infantry fighting vehicle, which would replace the old-fashioned VAB, used since the early 1980’s. The shorter clip shows the specifications of the new French armored vehicle designed and equipped to transport a combat infantry squad.

Foreign Legion Music Band: Crunch 2018 in Toulon
On April 4, 2018, the Foreign Legion Music Band (MLE) participated in opening Crunch 2018, an international rugby match between France’s Marine nationale (National Navy) and Great Britain’s Royal Navy. The event was deditacted to the wounded soldiers of both, France and Britain.

Yesterday, March 21, 2018, a legionnaire of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) died in Iraq. Since February 2018, with his platoon, he was involved in Operation Chammal to train Iraqi Special Operations Forces (ISOF). In August 2018, he would have completed his fifth year in the Legion.

10th March 1831: When a Legion was created
187 years ago, on March 10, 1831, a royal ordinance of Louis Philippe I, King of the French was issued. It ordered the establishment of a Foreign Legion. The current French Foreign Legion has officially derived its origin from this Legion established in 1831. Nevertheless, the lineage of the current Legion is far more complex.
