In March 2018, legionnaires of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) deployed to Martinique, an overseas region of France in the eastern Caribbean Sea.
Martinique is a tropical island, part of the archipelago of the Antilles. It is located north of Venezuela and bordering the Atlantic Ocean. The 2e REI legionnaires from the 4th Company are maintaining the French presence on the island, until this June. Besides their common duties, they also participate in military training, like that one taking place at Aquatic & Forest Training Center (CNEF), operated by the 33e RIMa (Infantry Marines Regiment).
