On July 14, France celebrates its National Day, Bastille Day. Every year, a military parade takes place on the Champs-Elysées in Paris. The French troops, including legionnaires from the French Foreign Legion, march down the street. In 2016, the Foreign Legion was represented, as usual, by the Foreign Legion Pioneers, being accompanied by the Foreign Legion Music Band. This year, 109 legionnaires from the 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13e DBLE) also participated in the parade.
Foreign Legion: Bastille Day Military Parade 2015
On July 14, France celebrated Bastille Day 2015 with a military parade in Paris. The French troops, including the French Foreign Legion, marched down the Champs-Elysées. The Legion was represented by the Foreign Legion Pioneers, accompanied by the Foreign Legion Music Band and the legionnaires from the 3rd Comapny of the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment (3e REI). The 3e REI was participating in the parade for the first time since it has been placed in French Guiana.
MLE: Foreign Legion Music Band in Saumur
On 4 July 2015, the Foreign Legion Music Band (MLE) participated on the 16th International Military Tattoo Festival, which took place in Saumur, western France, July 3-5. The festival invited military bands from France, Switzerland, Mexico, Poland and Ukraine.
Foreign Legion: Bastille Day Military Parade 2014
On July 14, the Bastille Day Military Parade (Défilé militaire du 14 Juillet) passed down the Champs-Elysées, Paris. As always, the Foreign Legion took part in the parade. See the legionnaires from the Foreign Legion Music Band and the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG), accompanied by the Foreign Legion Pioneers, marching together down the street in front of the French president.

A legionnaire receives standing ovation in Canada
A legionnaire, Senior-Corporal from the MLE, received standing ovation during the Québec City International Festival of Military Bands (FIMMQ) in Canada, while playing Auld Lang Syne. Really amazing performance… And YES, even this fantastic musician has passed the hard four-months basic training of the Foreign Legion in Castel.
French Foreign Legion on the Belgian National Day
On the 21st of July, the Foreign Legion Music participated on the Belgian National Day in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. The legionnaires showed their well-known excellent abilities to make the local visitors happy. See video.
Music band of the Foreign Legion 2013 official video
A nice, modern presentation of the Music band of the French Foreign Legion (partly in english) released just a few weeks ago. The band is a traditional part and a symbol of the Foreign Legion, based in Aubagne in the 1er RE. It has already been established in 1832, comprised exclusively of legionnaires. They have to go through the basic traing in Castelnaudary as the other legionnaires before being approved to the band. Today, the band is travelling and representing the Legion around the world.
