On July 14, the Bastille Day Military Parade (Défilé militaire du 14 Juillet) marched down the Champs-Élysées in Paris. As always, the French Foreign Legion took part.

This year, the Foreign Legion Pioneers, the Foreign Legion Band, and legionnaires from the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) marched together down the avenue in front of the French president.

After the parade, the legionnaires received a standing ovation from French firefighters on a street in Paris.

Sadly, that same day, a legionnaire from the 1er REG was killed in Mali.
