On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the headquarters of the French Foreign Legion in Aubagne opens its doors to the public, on September 21 and 22, 2024. Come and discover the motherhouse of the Foreign Legion.
If you are interested in the Foreign Legion and would like to visit its headquarters, not only on Camerone Day (April 30), you can try to do so the next month, at the end of September. The Quartier Vienot, a large military base which serves as the Legion’s HQ (COMLE) and home of the 1st Foreign Regiment (1er RE) at one, will be open to the public.
Guided tours (in French only, however) of the Quartier Vienot will be offered on September 21 and 22 (Saturday and Sunday) at 10am and 2pm, with prior booking at the Aubagne tourist office (not available at the website yet).
Tours of the temporary exhibition “Dragon-Légion” in the famous Foreign Legion Museum will be offered continuously and without reservation on both days.
The Museum’s permanent exhibition tour remains open to visitors free of charge as it is the rest of the year, from Tuesday to Sunday (10am-12pm / 14pm-6pm). Guided tours (again, in French only) of the Museum’s permanent exhibition are available all summer long. You may make reservation at the same website (also, in French).
