13e DBLE: First exercise with helicopters

In March 2019, the 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13e DBLE) conducted an exercise with helicopters at Larzac. It was the very first such exercise taking place at their military camp located in southern France.

During the exercise at Larzac, the “commandos” of the Dismounted Combat Support Platoon (Section Aide à l’Engagement Débarqué, SAED) cooperated with NFH Caiman helicopters of the 1st Combat Helicopter Regiment (1er RHC).

The Foreign Legion’s 13e DBLE moved to the military camp of Larzac in mid-2016, after having left the United Arab Emirates. Between 1962 and 2011, the only demi-brigade (half-brigade) of the French Army served in Djibouti, Horn of Africa.

In 2017, the 13e DBLE received HK rifles, as the very first unit of the French Army to replace old FAMAS.
