3e REI: Operation Yawasisi 2015 | French Foreign Legion Information

On 8 December 2015, the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment (3e REI), based in French Guiana, returned from Operation Yawasisi, after 10 weeks spent deep in the jungle.

The joint military operation conducted by the Guiana Armed Forces (Forces Armées en Guyane, FAG) against illegal gold-diggers lasted from October to December 2015. Almost 400 troops from several French military branches, including 3e REI legionnaires (in the majority from the 2nd + 3rd Company), participated in.
