On 7 September 2015, a detachment of the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment (3e REI) participated in Brazil’s Independence Day Military Parade, which took place in the city of Macapá. The 3e REI is based in French Guiana, a country bordering with Brazil.
The 3e REI’s 3rd Company and a platoon of Pioneers were involved in the events of Independence Day of Brazil. The Pioneers paraded in the city of Belém, while the 3rd Company took part in the parade of Macapá, together with the 34th Jungle Infantry Battalion (34º Batalhão de Infanteria de Selva, 34º BIS) of the Brazilian Army. The 34º BIS has conducted several traning exrecises and patrol mission with the legionnaires of 3e REI in the Amazon Jungle, on the border with French Guiana, to operate there against illegal gold-triggers within Operation Harpie. The 34º BIS also invited the 3e REI to participate in the parade.
