A very nice photo slideshow made by an Italian ex-legionnaire who served in the French Foreign Legion between August 1987 and August 1992, in the majority in the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP).
The legionnaire made his instruction within the 3rd Engaged Volunteer Company (3e CEV), 4th Foreign Regiment (4e RE). Thereafter he stayed in 4e RE for one year and made Fut-fut (fresh legionnaire having finished his 4-month-long instruction, assuming responsibility for new fresh volunteers training and doing Corporal course as fast as possible – yet at the old Caserne Lapasset – without leaving 4e RE for another regiment).
Then he joined 2e REP on the island of Corsica, being transferred to the Heavy Mortar Platoon (SML, has been disbanded since the 1990s), Reconnaissance & Support Company (CEA).
After becoming a NCO, he was transferred to CEA’s Reconnaissance Platoon (SER earlier, now SRR – will be disbanded within 1 year due to the French Army reorganization 2014-15), finishing his contract there…
